Waikiki Retail T.I.

OMIZU Architecture was presented with the opportunity to design a new store by a national brand within the revitalized open-air mall, IMP (formerly International Market Place), within Waikiki. The re-developed mall which made way for a modernized Waikiki shopping experience provided the setting for Chapel Hats to create a fresh look to their stores within the Hawaiian islands that cater to visitors needing headwear for Hawaiʻiʻs outdoor experience. Chapel Hats owner desired a rustic look to the floors and ceilings whilst sticking to their signature appeal of lining the retail spaceʻs interior walls with their awesome inventory of unique headwear and accessories. Custom ceiling structure, mall required/structurally compliant storefront, partition walls, lighting, HVAC, flooring and back-of house office space were all a part of the design that has led to a successful retail space in one of Waikikiʻs busiest retail locations.
