The Department of Transportations, Highways Division DOT-HWYS tasked OMIZU Architecture to design a new 2,817 square foot office building and conduct interior improvements to their current offices at the Maui District Baseyard in Kahului, Maui. Initially, the new office building was intended for field staff returning to the office from overnight road-work shifts to have a “home-base”. New managerial offices, a number of systems furniture workstations, a break area, storage rooms, and men’s and women’s restrooms were designed. Shower rooms were also created to refresh DOT-HWYS staff prior to heading home.
