The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa has been a long time client for OMIZU Architecture. Moore Hall renovations centralized within the university campus consisted of improvements to eighteen (18) existing classrooms spaces on multiple levels within the multi-story Moore Hall classroom/faculty office language arts building. Classrooms ranging from approximately 300 square feet to over 600 square feet were examined and reconfigured to specifically reposition the instructor location near the front of the room and allow student entry at the rear only. Combined, over 6,400 square feet of classrooms were improved. Major flooring, wall partition, and ceiling conditions were removed and replaced. Smaller classrooms were combined and entry doors along a double loaded corridor were repositioned. Electrical, Lighting, Audio/visual equipment, and HVAC infrastructure were all reconfigured to adjust to the new classroom orientation. Omizu Architecture designed both flooring and ceiling cloud accents to visually bring revived attention to the new classroom orientation.
